Raymond Laugand was released after over 27 years of wrongful conviction and imprisonment. Orleans Parish Criminal District Court Judge Nandi Campbell vacated Raymond’s conviction last week because the State failed to turn over material exculpatory information that supported Raymond innocence nearly three decades ago. Raymond has been released on bail and is looking forward to at last proving his innocence and clearing his name. He is grateful for support from his loving family, VOTE, Freedem Foundation, and the exoneree community in New Orleans and Baton Rouge.
Raymond is the 65th person IPNO has reunited with their loved ones. Raymond was greeted by his sisters and other family members when he was freed last night.
